This is my portfolio page where you can find examples of some of the work I carried out since I started working as a freelance translator in 2005.

The projects quoted below include English to Turkish, Turkish to English translation, website localisation, editing and software testing jobs but you will also find some jobs that do not fall into any of the traditional linguistic job categories such as the jobs I have done for Fujitsu, what3words.com or Blackdot.

Working with BBC Panorama on Aftershock: The Turkey-Syria Earthquake documentary, following the deadly earthquakes that hit Turkey and Syria on 6th February.
This was an intense job working with the entire team over the weekend to get the program ready to be shown on Monday. My role included helping the team sift through substantial footage in Turkish to choose for the program, determine and label footage, determine start end end of particular scenes, subtitling, editing film script, editing existing script and turning them into subtitles, working with various members of the team to check that subtitles are suitable for UK English – 11-12.02.2023.

Conducting Interviews with Employees of a Global Pharma Company in Turkish and Translating the Interviews for Blackdot – March 2020. On behalf of Blackdot, I have conducted online interviews with employees of a global pharma company in their native language Turkish, in order to gather their insights into the company’s current operating model, processes, tools and technology etc., establish in what areas training is needed the most and explore top opportunity areas to uplift their current roles. I then translated their answers into English, in order to present them to Blackdot.

In December 2019 I was contacted by representatives from IEMA who were interested in my services for translating some of their content and building a glossary of sustainability terminology for the Turkish market. We scheduled an online interview where I was interviewed about my experience in the field of sustainability. After a satisfactory interview, the representatives contacted me again to commission the work to me. I translated the content and prepared a glossary in January 2020 and after a while received positive feedback from the commissioners of this particular project.

Core and SD Macro set localisation of customer service bot for Fujitsu Virtual Agent – May 2018. This was a rather unique project and required understanding of how coding works in software. There was an extensive liaison between the localisation project manager and the actual project manager of the product. We used Microsoft Teams for our queries.

Sub-Editing of XC Mag Volvo for Redwood Publishing – London, July-August 2017. For this project, I attended the client’s offices in Central London. My role was to sub-edit the translated magazine content which was transferred into Adobe InDesign. Because the translation was carried out independently of the magazine layout the overall text had to be made shorter in order to fit the designated layout. The editing involved reviewing and carefully amending the text without affecting the overall flow and readability of the articles. Testing of coding words of what3words in Turkish – August-October 2016 https://what3words.com. I tested some of the coding words for what3words which is a proprietary geocode system that is designed to identify any location with a resolution of about 3 metres. What3words encodes geographic coordinates into three dictionary words; the encoding is permanently fixed. The main focus of the testing project was to eliminate any inappropriate or culturally sensitive words from the word pool.
